A series of lectures. Cultural and educational project «Dante. Secret Worlds»

Consul General of Italy in Moscow Francesco Forte under the patronage of the Italian Ambassador to Russia Pasquale Terracciano launched an open cultural and educational project «Dante. Secret Worlds» at the Russian State Library. The second meeting took place on 28 November at the RSL Conference Hall.

This cultural project takes the form of immersive readings and dives into the philosophy of Dante’s Divine Comedy. The entire series of 12 public lectures is headlined by the Consul of Italy and also features guest speakers. Simultaneous interpretation into Russian is provided for the audience.

There are one or two meetings every month until May 2020. The attendance is free of charge but prior registration at http://www.danteworlds.ru is required.

Anyone can join the course at any stage. Before each meeting, guests can enjoy Italian wine tasting, as well as an exhibition of unique editions of Dante’s Divine Comedy and publications by other authors from the RSL collections.

Francesco Forte explains that, «I did not just randomly pick the form of immersive readings. Immersiveness is about the depth of perception, about the effect of the presence of a „soul inside“ of each work. In his Divine Comedy Dante with the help of incredibly refined allegories offers the reader several levels of immersion into his reality, which is actually familiar to each of us, regardless of time and space, era or country. To enhance the depth of perception, we have created special visual effects. I am sure that they will allow listeners to draw even more pleasure from Dante’s amazing journey, which we ourselves make over the course of our lives».

Please note that attendees need to have a valid ID with a photograph in order to receive the simultaneous interpretation equipment.
